This is a 1980 - run ALCO model train, imported and built by ROK - AM in Korea. The original box has some shelf wear, with scuffs and a few stains. The boiler weight is included but not installed. It comes with a Vanderbilt tender and a sport cab. The previous owner installed a NorthWest Short Line gearbox, a major upgrade as the original Rok - Am gearboxes tend to disintegrate. This train runs smoothly and quietly, showing minimal signs of use, and the driver plating is in great shape. It's a wonderful example of this model.

Using your HO scale brass ALCO model train is easy. First, make sure you have a proper analog DC power source. Connect the train to the tracks and turn on the power. You'll notice how smoothly it runs, thanks to the upgraded NWSL gearbox.
When it comes to storage, keep the train in its original box and foam. This will protect it from dust and damage. If you want to display it, make sure the area is clean and free from any objects that could scratch it.
For maintenance, check the wheels regularly for any signs of excessive wear. You can use a soft, dry cloth to clean the train's body. If you notice any issues with the motor or gearbox, it's best to consult a professional model train technician. Also, be careful when handling the train, especially the tender and cab areas, as they can be fragile. Enjoy your model train and have fun with it!
