This is a set of two beautifully detailed and finished powered locomotives from the 1993 run of Challenger Imports models built by Samhongsa in Korea. The boxes show only minimal shelf wear and come with spare parts. These locomotives are factory - plated and painted with window glazing. They run smoothly and quietly, representing locomotives from the 1960's era with red stripes on the nose and numbering only on the A unit. Ideal for the Denver Zephyr and Texas Zephyr layouts. These engines were retired in 1968 and traded back to EMD for GP40's, with one surviving at the Illinois Railway Museum. Brand: Brass - Challenger Imports. Part numbers are 2038.1 (A unit) and 2035.1 (B unit). Condition: C - 7 Excellent. Wheel wear is minimal. There's moderate motor/gearbox noise (4 of 10). Both units operate smoothly with Can Motors. The cab interior has full detail. The factory paint work is excellent, with 9912A on the A unit and the B unit unnumbered as per the 1960's CB&Q scheme. It's an analog - DC only control system. The A unit has working lights including a headlight and Mars light. The units have couplers on the rear of the A unit and on the B unit. They come in original boxes with foam inserts. Using your HO scale brass locomotive set is easy. First, make sure you're using an analog - DC power source as these locomotives are designed for DC - only control. Connect the power and watch as the A unit's headlight and Mars light come on. Place the locomotives on your model train track and enjoy their smooth and quiet operation. When it comes to maintenance, keep an eye on the wheel wear, which is currently minimal. If you notice any excessive noise (it currently has a moderate motor/gearbox noise level of 4 out of 10), you might want to check the motor and gearbox. Clean the locomotives gently with a soft cloth to maintain their excellent factory paint work. When storing the locomotives, keep them in their original boxes with the foam inserts to protect them from damage. And remember, if you're not happy with your purchase, you have a 30 - day no - questions - asked money - back policy, though you'll be responsible for return shipping unless the item arrives damaged.
